Bored out and polished throttle body to suit a VN-VR V6 and VN-VT Series 1 V8. A very cost effective way to bump up the performance of your late model Commodore, increasing airflow by 38 and 14% on V6 and V8 engines respectively.
Holmart's price of this modified throttle body is $220 inc Gst. on an exchange basis. The quality of these remanufactured throttle bodies are second to none! The photo does not do these throttle bodies justice!
This mod is an excellent cost effective way to bump up the horsepower from your late model commodore as shown on the dyno graph below. In this case a VN auto with extractors/exhaust/cold air intake and our 70mm throttle body was tested and made 118 kw at the rear wheels (please ignore the top line as that power was made after a custom remap).
Backed up by other tests, this mod is good for around 5 kw at the rear wheels for a car with similar mods as mentioned previously. Greater power gains can be achieved if further mods are undertaken such as larger cam, supercharger etc…
On top of this power increase, it will also make your commodore sound meaner (i.e. more air rushing into the engine = meaner sound) and offer a much better throttle response!
Please note that our throttle bodies are 70mm stainless steel butterfly, and have pressed aluminium vacuum inserts, unlike other manufacturers who just bog these ports up and hope the bog doesn’t fall out! Or worse, mislead people into thinking that they are selling a larger throttle body which is only a cleaned up version of the factory item still using the original butterfly! People please ask for photographic proof that the butterfly diameter (not the initial throttle body opening, as it’s not the main restriction in the first place!!!) is what they claim it is to be, as I’ve seen far too many people ripped off. On another note we don’t manufacture these throttle bodies in 71mm, as we feel that they are unsafe long term as the wall thickness is too thin and may fail over time.
